Michael Kling

Hi! I'm Mike (they/them). I am a clinical counsellor with an empathetic, harm-reduction approach and a deep respect for your unique lived experiences. My clinical approach is deeply grounded in extensive "boots on the ground" harm reduction experience working at a Overdose Prevention Site in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES). I saw first hand how far the depths of addiction can go and how deep seated trauma manifested itself into substance use as a defence mechanism. There I saw both the beautiful side of humanity and also the dark side of desperation. This is why I work from a Person-Centered Trauma-Informed (PCTI), and my practice is deeply rooted in Feminist Therapy, equity, and inclusive values. I specialize in Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA2+ Affirming Care, Addictions and Chronic Pain therapy. I believe that healing happens in spaces where we feel safe, seen, and respected. A place where when we hold space for the systemic and environmental factors that shape our mental health. Therapy with me is a partnership; I will help guide you along your mental health journey as a collaborator, but your journey is your own, and you are always in the driver's seat.
